Last works on the DeLaVergne, new electric board dials to come, dismounting of the scaffolding, ...

The vertical compressor Ingersoll Rand received his second layer of varnish this Friday (06/02/2016).

Our technicians then turned their attention back to De La Vergne compressor. They removed the residues of rust still present in some parts of the machine and applied the varnish on the wheel and on the upper cylinders. Our team has found out that the balusters painted in black were actually made of brass. So they removed the paint and the machine now looks like it's crowned!

They will still scrub the rest of the machine, rub it with a damp cloth and then finish the cleaning with a dry cloth. The first layer of fixating varnish was applied this Monday (08/02/2016) with the help of a brush.

Our workers have also started sanding the controllers of the electric panel with a wire brush. In parallel, Dino is awaiting proposals of caps nuts made of brass at acceptable prices from suppliers. He met a pretty multi-skilled artist to rebuild the missing dials. They will probably be build in wood and with the help of a lathe and, afterwards, painted. Indeed, it would be too expensive to reproduce them in metal.

The glass and background paper with the indications Volt, KW and Ampere are being elaborated and will be placed on the electric board dials.

The cleaning product for the marble will be applied as soon as we receive the final approval from the heritage authorities. So far, all the reviews of the product have been positive.

The bridge crane is now fully restored. We have returned the scaffolding we used for its restoration. We are now only waiting for hoist hooks, since the original ones have disappeared.”

We'll be back soon with more exciting news!
