De La Vergne compressor set in motion again after hundred years!
January 18, 2016
Last Friday, our restoration team managed to set the De La Vergne compressor in motion again. This unique compressor was purposely built in 1894 for the Wielemans-Ceuppens brewery. However, it was not producing enough cold and was disbanded in the 1920s. It had thus not been set in motion for almost a century.
Nonetheless, its excellent building quality (at a time where computers did not exist!) and the skills of our talented team allowed us to set it in motion again. Congratulations to Dino, Momo, Abdel, and José Luis for their tremendous achievement!
(english subtitles to come soon for this video)
We will now evaluate whether it would be possible to attach a small electric engine to it to make it move in slow motion for didactic purposes, in agreement with the heritage authorities and the BRASS. We will keep you posted, stay tuned !
