What is a tirefor?

We already told you how challenging was our restauration yard. We still try to unlock the piston. We realised that it was impossible to demount the valve head, we'll try to do it by means of an hydraulic pump. But the old mechanisms still do not move. Next week, we'll use a tirefor. It is a wire system that we'll tie on the clog foot on wich the piston rests, on the opposite side of the wheel axis.

We manipulate a long lever that tightened jaws that moves the cable.

On the pictures you can see this tirefor system, but the one you see was indeed broken, we need a stronger one, able to pull 4 tonnes loads.

We'll then warm the clog to shake off the rust. We hope that the piston will then move.

We've dismanteled the valves head to check if we can access cyldinders buut it hjas proven impossible : it only includes a pipe for the steam? We set a wires system that would benefit from the wheel cranck to pull onton the piston. the wheel moves well thanks to a pressure pump driven by a compressor.

We put the whole mechanism under pressure with lubricant oil and we'll see if it works.

In the meanwile, Momo and Abdel have unlocked and cleaned the ACEC electric engine, they've also unlocked and cleaned the tensing pulley of the transmission belt. It had been claimed to La Fonderie where it was deposited. It will be put back in place the way it was in 1988.
